About

“The Great Sculptor worked away at the face of the Drakensberg. In gentle mood He carved the lovely valleys of the Little Berg and caused rivers to flow softly through them, the grass to grow and the forests to take shape. In sterner mood He carved above the Little Berg, the mighty face of the Drakensberg itself. Isolated peak upon peak, deeply-etched channels, tremendous gorges, dark eerie chasms, knife-like ridges, minarets, towers, citadels, appeared” R.O. Pearce, Barrier of Spears. One of these peaks that dominate the Central Drakensberg is Cathkin Peak . Cathkin Peak was named in 1861 after the farm Cathkin, a name obtained by the owner’s home city near Glasgow, Cathkin Braes. One of the early hotels established in the valley below this peak was Cathkin Park Hotel (which has since closed) from where our name, Cathkin Park Reservations, originates.

We have been in operation since 1994 and as members of the community 1983 it is our pleasure to provide a service to the accommodation establishments in the area and to the guests who visit them.

Our joy is to place people in accommodation that best suits their needs. For us to do this efficiently we like to find out exactly what you would like to do, what facilities would be required and what interests you have.

We offer a complimentary service to you whereby we would check availability of the venue, make the reservation on your behalf and send you confirmation together with directions.
