Indigenous gardening in The Berg
Springtime! I have some wonderful neighbours in Cathkin Estates and one friend in particular has been and is still is, offering incredible energy, knowledge and creativity in helping me refurbish and extend the indigenous garden at Zebra Crossing, a 4star self-catering house. We have a couple of local nurseries who are supplying huge amounts of compost and a variety of trees, shrubs and ground covers. This will be an on-going project and it is so exciting to see it taking shape. The Dombeya Rotunifolia which is the wild pear is flowering, clusters of white flowers, the paperback thorns are shooting green leaves, the pelargoniums are beautifull mixed with watsonias and other small shrubs. The wild hares took a liking to the pink flowering dietes and I am hoping they will not like the new Arctosis.
